                        Through instant petition, the petitioner, who is contesting election of General Councillor from Ward No.10 (New Ward No.6) Moro town, has expressed his concern over the prevailing law and order situation in the area, whereas, he has further alleged that police is supporting the candidates of ruling party and has prayed that the DIG, Sukkur and SSP, Naushahro Feroze may be directed to arrange for deployment of Rangers and Police at the polling stations in District Naushahro Feroze in order to ensure the security of voters as well as of the contesting candidates at the time of casting votes.

 

            Notices were issued, pursuant to which comments have been filed on behalf of SSP, Naushahro Feroze and DIGP, Sukkur Range, wherein it has been stated that the petitioner has not given the details of the polling stations where the deployment of heavy Police and Rangers is required. However, it has been stated that adequate staff of Force may be deputed at each and every polling station in order to ensure the security of voters as well as of the contesting candidates at the time of casting votes and all necessary measures may be taken for keeping law and order situation under control.

 

            Learned counsel for the petitioner is satisfied, however, submits that further directions may be issued to the Election Commission of Pakistan that in case of any law and order situation, the Rangers may also be deployed to ensure the smooth holding of election in District Naushahro Feroze.

            Accordingly, instant petition is disposed of with directions to the respondents as well as Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure that the election in Moro town District Naushahro Feroze as well as in the entire Sukkur Division shall be held peaceful and the law and order situation shall be maintained in such a manner that the voters shall cast their votes as per their freewill and may elect the candidate of their own choice without being harassed in this regard. A copy of this order may be sent to the Regional office of Election Commission of Pakistan, Sukkur to ensure compliance.
